Pornhub Joins Amazon, Reddit and Vimeo and Announces Participation in Day of Action to Support Net Neutrality
Leading Adult Entertainment Platform to Defend Net Neutrality on July 12 -- Alongside Amazon, Etsy, Reddit and Mozilla -- by Displaying a Prominent Message on its Site
New York, NY (June 14, 2017) – Today, Pornhub, the premier online destination for adult entertainment, announced it has joined the Internet-Wide Day of Action on July 12, to protest the FCC’s attack on net neutrality. As part of its participation, Pornhub will band together with tech companies and activists, including Amazon, Etsy, Reddit, Mozilla and several others, and prominently display a message on its website to show support and create awareness for the importance of net neutrality.
The protest day is set five days before the first deadline for comments on the FCC’s proposal to create more control over what is seen and done online. This reprises a 2014 protest that ultimately led to stronger regulations around net neutrality in the Communications Act in 2015.
“Net neutrality is an essential driver of innovation for startups. It has helped us and many others create leading-edge solutions that have huge benefits for consumers. “It’s a fight worth fighting and we’re excited to stand alongside industry leaders to protest the FCC’s planned rollback of net neutrality rules,” said Corey Price, VP, Pornhub, “I encourage all our fans across the world to stand together on July 12th and help spread the word.”
The day of action will focus on grassroots mobilization, with public interest groups activating their members and major web platforms providing their visitors with tools to contact Congress and the FCC.
