Pornhub presents: SALEM live at Coney Island’s El Dorado Bumper Cars
NEW YORK (July 24, 2023) – On Friday, July 28, the deeply influential SALEM return for their first live performance in a decade. Debuting songs from their acclaimed and long-awaited second album, 2020’s Fires in Heaven, with a full band for the first time since its release, the Pornhub-presented event will take place at New York’s Eldorado Bumper Cars, a 50-year old Coney Island institution with a world-class sound system. Midwesterners Jack Donoghue and John Holland emerged in the late 2000s and became notorious for their visceral strain of electronic nihilism and their singular aesthetic, which found flashes of sublime beauty in the middle American wasteland. With only a handful of official releases, including their debut album King Night (2010), SALEM amassed a cult-like following, and their enduring impact continues to ripple through the sounds of independent music and the industry. After disappearing from the public eye, they surfaced in 2020 with their long-awaited second album, Fires in Heaven, a progression of their classic sound and a culmination of 10 years of collaborative brotherhood through dark times. SALEM makes sacred the forgotten center of the country, writing elegies for a declining American landscape. For better or worse, they are unable to walk any path but their own.
