Final Fantasy 7 first appeared on the Playstation console as an RPG in 1997, and remained one of the most popular story lines of the series. Now, 23 years later Square Enix has released the much anticipated FF7 remake.
If you’ve followed Pornhub Insights over the last several years, you will know that gaming related searches and characters are one of the most popular genres on Pornhub. In our 2019 Year in Review, we ranked the most popular game searches, where Final Fantasy came in as number 15.
PCGamesN checked in to see what effect the new remake had on Pornhub searches.
Since the Final Fantasy 7 remake appeared on April 10th, Pornhub’s statisticians have recorded over 1 million related searches, with searches peaking on April 13th by 7631% over the March 2020 average.

The number one Final Fantasy related search is currently “Final Fantasy 7”. Our statisticians found that “Tifa” is the most popular character search, followed by “Aerith”, “Lightning”, “Yuna” and “Lulu”.
Our statisticians also looked at what other search terms were popular among visitors searching for Final Fantasy. Topping this list is “Overwatch”, followed by Resident Evil character “Jill Valentine” and “Resident Evil”. Final Fantasy searchers are also likely to search for “League Legends”, “Apex Legends”, “Minecraft” and “Fortnite” in the same session.
Men are 58% more likely to search for Final Fantasy when compared to women, and Playstation users are 189% more likely to search when compared to visitors using Xbox consoles. When compared to all other age groups, visitors aged 18 to 24 are 47% more likely to search for Final Fantasy, and 25 to 34 years old are 28% more interested.
